Confined

To my own sweet air.

I hear the

White python hiss,

See its

Pink eyes swell.

The threat is there

But my body is vacant

As an abandoned home,

Strewn with

Love notes

Like half-dead doves.

 

Catherine Roberts is a new mum powered by black coffee and illuminated by a laptop at night when she finds the time to write.
