Coffee shop stories

Fabrice Poussin

These two hide little of their privacy

comfortably slouching at the coffee shop.

They have amazing stories to share

with each other for the world to know.

Little turkeys gobbling under their crimson hats

singing virtues of the newest office gossips.

Fat hens they cluck away family drama

in the high pitch of a spring fair vendor.

Hiding beneath the fancy dresses they continue

to declaim inanities made of unknow sounds.

But they will leave as they entered, filled with a million prides

their heads in the heavens as they continue what they think a hymn.

Poussin teaches French and English at a university in Georgia, USA. His work in poetry and photography has appeared in Kestrel, Symposium, The Chimes, and many other publications worldwide. He is the author of two poetry collections “In Absentia,” 2021 and "If I Had a Gun," 2022, by Silver Bow Publishing.
