Hummingbird

By Lucy Spooner

A hummingbird could flap its tiny wings

Four thousand times in this minute alone

My heart beats not so fast, but still it sings

And leads me onward into the unknown

If only love made such a bright display

As hummingbird wings; then I’d know the way
