By Thomas Hannah
with the blessing
of being born a baby
& birthed a bug
a bomb or a beheading couldn’t break me
I was icy
dumb as stupidity
numb as morphine
drunk as whisky
weak as water really
smiling with the python
tightening the tourniquet in constricting harmony
I hardly felt anything
nothing could break me
I was already broken
& didn’t feel like mending
reality felt like sleeping
& sleep relief from reality
what’s left but memories
when life’s too tiring
death too boring
& you can only do so much complaining
Finding his love of poetry through songwriting and music, Thomas Hannah is an Australian artist with influences from Billie Holiday to Black flag & back again.
